Dear
friends, family, and colleagues:
Greetings from Watsonville, California.
News from our corner of the world:
Happy New Year!
| We enjoyed an entire week with our son, Jim, over Christmas
break. But now the tree is gone, the decorations stored,
and the floor clear of pine needles. I miss the festive look,
though, and all that goes with it. But fresh starts are good
too. |

The
first month of 2008 is nearly behind us. I hope yours
is off to a great start. We are hunkering down this month—clearing
out office clutter, doing lots of writing and reading,
and enjoying our home. |
|
| February will be a busy month as I speak at the 15th annual
Christian Writers Seminar February 22-23 in Castro Valley,
California, attend a couples retreat with my husband, and
attend the Writing for the Soul Conference in Colorado Springs,
as a mentor. |

Last
week I house- and dog-sat for our daughter Erin and family
while they vacationed in Hawaii. I fell in love with my
new grand-dog, Tanner. He loved to take walks, chase a
soccer ball in the yard, play tag with my sunhat, and lounge
on his master's leather recliner––and
cuddle in bed with me each morning before the sun rose. |
|
| Charles and Ryan, a young
neighbor, and I cleaned up the yard after strong winds, while
our family was away. |

Guideposts
Books has taken two more of my books and will publish them
in April under their own imprint––Getting'
Old STILL Ain't For Wimps and Help, Lord! I'm Having
a Senior Moment AGAIN. This is a great blessing to me and
I hope to many new readers.
Some things to consider. . .
Reflection:
"My purpose is to give you life in all its fullness" (John
10:10).
|
I have this verse framed and sitting on my desk as a daily
reminder of what God has for me, for you, and for all who
follow his son, Jesus. I hope it will inspire and comfort
you in the days ahead. |
Action:
Here are a few tips for the New Year from an article
I wrote with my friend, organizing professional, Marcia Ramsland
(www.OrganizingPro.com)
Marcia
Ramsland’s 'Two-Minute
Pick-up'––A Great Way to Make a Fresh Start this
New Year!
1. Make your bed every morning. Two minutes of work provide
16 hours of order.
2. Clear counter and desk space. It takes only two minutes to put away books,
toys, games before leaving a room.
3. Write to-do items on a daily planner or calendar so your mind is free of things
to remember. You can do this each day in two minutes or less.
4. Take two minutes to set out the tools, books, or equipment needed for
your next project. When you return you can get to work immediately.
Thought for the day: God loves us with an everlasting
love. Nothing can separate us from him—nothing—not
ever.
Let's stay in touch. I'd love to hear from you. . .
