Just a Hug — 25 Comments

  1. Karen, this is so very true. I was recently hospitalized after a fall and subsequent cellulitis. I was so touched and humbled by the many cards and visits I received from friends and neighbors. Never again will I take my friends love and, yes, hugs for granted. And we must not forget that every hug need to be returned. I hope your sister does well.

    • Marie, I’m sorry to hear you were in the hospital. I pray you are doing well now and safe and sound at home. Hugs really help at a time like that.

  2. (((Hugs))) right back to you, Karen. And thanks for the reminder before I attend a funeral this week. Very timely.

    • Thanks, Kristi. So happy the post on hugs came on time for the funeral you’ll be attending. At such events family and friends need all the hugs they can get.

  3. I can use all the hugs I can get these days! I love giving them, too!
Thanks for another great message that “embraces” hugs!!!

    • Thanks, Glenda. With all that is going on in your life right now, I can well imagine that you can use all the hugs you’ll get and I hope there are many.

  4. Love this one, wise words and well taken! thanks!! I often close my letters to personal friends by saying: “put your arms around yourself, and give yourself a tight hug and pretend it is me!” It actually feels good!! One of my favorite stories I read was about a little boy who loved his next door neighbor and would go over and sit in the swing with the elderly man. The man’s wife died. Soon after the little boy went over and sat with the man in the swing for a long time. When he got home his Mother asked him what did he say to his friend. The child responded: ” I didn’t say anything. I just helped him cry.” THIS one gets to me every time I think about it as sometimes that is all we need to do.
Thanks, again, Karen !! You are the best!
    Love, Margaret

  5. Ah! Today I needed a hug from you and I really felt it! Tough day! Ron and Don’s 70th and Ron starting 24 hour Hospice care as his transition will be soon. We will hug each other in person on Saturday. Don and I look forward to that as you prepare for your Danube Cruise with your sweet daughter and Mount Herman friends. Sorry we cannot be with you as planned but the dear Lord wants us to BE here with Ron and family. Love you, Kathleen XO.

    • Thank you, Kathleen. My heart is with you and Don. What a challenge, even though it’s within God’s divine plan. I will see you Saturday and look forward to it.

  6. And I appreciate you as well Karen. Thanks for the hug and your friendship. It means allot to me. God bless you. Sending a virtual hug back at you.
