Amazing American Women — 14 Comments

  1. Three of those have been my favorite quotes for years, and I thank you for reminding me of them. Life is one long “adjusting of sails” as we learn to navigate our ships through the storms. And Amelia… such spunk and courage. You have carried her spirit into the years when many slow down and/or give up dreaming. You should write a book about how to do THAT, Karen, and I’ll buy your first copy. 🙂

  2. Compared to men, why are so few women quoted? Eleanor Roosevelt also said: “Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.” Timely quote, don’t you think? She also said: “One’s philosophy is not best expressed with words; it is expressed in the choices one makes…and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.”

I love quotes. Good luck with your project. Why do we say that when luck has little to do with it?

  3. LOVE all these quotes! Thank you, Karen, so much. I have always liked this quote by Helen Keller:
“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light”.
She certainly was an amazing woman and her Teacher was even more amazing!
    Love and blessings, Margaret

  4. Great quotes, Karen. Thank you. We have so many women from whom we can learn; you’ve been one of those for me. Thank you.

  5. Love all of these, especially Eleanor Roosevelt’s, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

  6. Did they ever find Amelia? I heard somewhere where they may have found a grave — but no plane. Love the quotes. Esp Eleanors. Have a great day Karen
